Final Trip

Final trip on my current job complete. After 9 months and around 30,000 miles booked I am happy to be doing busy locally for a while. The driving has been good at times and really bad at times, but it was a learning experience. I got to see a lot of the great state of Alabama and it is like they say, beautiful. It is time to move on to my next chapter and I am looking forward to it very much. I can hear Dad’s voice on the other end of the phone saying, “Does it feel good to have that last trip behind you Sweet Willie?” To answer your question Daddio, “Hell yeah!”

Charter Communications Internet

I am getting a blistering .26 mbps download speed and .24 mbps upload speed with my Charter Communications Broadband this morning. I pay for 100x that speed, so yeah I thrilled with my Charter Communications Broadband service….

Christmas

As much as I love Christmas, I hate it. I love being with family and catching up with old friends, but it seems like I look at that as such a small piece of the pie now. I dread, absolutely dread, buying gifts. I enjoy buying nice things for friends and family and do not fear spending money, often to a fault, but I never plan for it. If you want to see someone’s finances in an absolute wreck, look at my bank statements around Christmas. Then when it comes to getting gifts, I am the worst to buy for around Christmas. Anything that I want I already purchased for myself. I will even try to set aside things to give as gift ideas, but often end up purchasing them before Christmas comes around. Then I get upset if I ask for something, but the person I give the gift idea to gets something else or can’t find it. Like I said, I am the worst to buy for around Christmas.

So now I am trying to better focus on the positives of Christmas.  Now that work only allows me a couple days at home it is hard to totally detach from work. It is so easy to get caught up in the corporate advertising and the monetary focus of the holidays, but I am now trying to look at the brighter side of my holiday season. I don’t live in the same town as my sister, brother-in-law or nephew so seeing them really makes it all worth it. I don’t see my parents very often so being at home with them is something we all love. However, sleeping in the same bed I was slept in through high school is brutal.

Whether it is Hanukkah or Christmas the holidays are about family. I am focusing on that and trying not to get lost in the “buy buy buy” holiday culture. For me it is Merry Christmas, for friends it is Happy Hanukkah, but for everyone I say Happy Holidays.
